The Through-Line is owned and run by me, Dr. Jennifer R. Cash. I hold a Ph.D. in Anthropology, and have more than 20 years of experience in ethnographic research and a decade of editorial experience.
A native of the small mid-Atlantic U.S. state of Delaware, I was educated in the mid-West (Chicago, BA 1996, Phi Beta Kappa; Indiana University Bloomington, PhD Anthropology and Certificate in Russian and East European Area Studies 2004) before pursuing a career in Europe and Asia.
In the early 2000s, I spent over a decade in Europe, beginning with fieldwork in the former Soviet Republic of Moldova. In London, I worked for an NGO specialized in European Free Movement and Human Rights Law and taught adjunct at University College London. In Germany, I was a researcher and then associate of the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology.
Now in Singapore, in addition to running the Through-Line, I am an associate of the School of Humanities at Nanyang Technological University and lecture at the Strate School of Design.
Languages I have studied, to various degrees of proficiency, include French, German, Romanian, Russian, and Malay.
Fieldwork experience includes the topic of ethnic relations, cultural policy, and changing rural livelihoods.
More about my personal research appears on my academia webpage https://eth-mpg.academia.edu/JenniferCash.
